About Lindeman The staff

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND KNOW-HOW SINCE 1895

Oy Lindeman Ab was founded by Mr Aino Gustaf Lindeman on July 1, 1895. Trading with agricultural products, salt, petrol etc. formed the start of the company. At the very end of the century the net manufacturing operation was initiated at the waterfront of Brändösund in Vasa or at that time, Nikolaistad.

Vasa Fish Net Factory was founded 1908, which gradually expanded and in 1920 a new factory was built in Vetokannas, Vasa. During the fifties the company did an experimental production with the synthetic raw materials developed, which soon enough conquered the market and cotton and linen disappeared. Looms for double knot operation were constructed and at the same time production of trawls, traps, fyke nets etc. was started.

During the 70's production development mainly concentrated on mechanical mounting of nets, and a new production unit was built in Replot, where all activities today are concentrated. Production co-operation is carried out in Estonia as well as in Russia, and international development projects are part of the operation.

Approx. 50% of total sales are export. A special effort is made on continuous development of products as well as methods and equipment — recently the company introduced new ecological products such as leadless sinking lines and environmentally tested raw materials.
